Winners of Beyond Banking 2018 visit Slush
The team warmed up at the exhilarating event while the icy wind and tough weather were all part of the experience as they visited Slush in Helsinki. View their trip, here.
Greenpay on the verge of onboarding their first potential customer
After their glorious victory at the Beyond Banking Days, the Greenpay team got to work with their winning idea. In short, they wanted to create a financially viable way to accelerate the circular use of materials. Their concept requires two elements. Firstly, a solution that enables a buyback guarantee that offers consumers a green choice. And secondly, companies that are willing to re-focus their efforts towards re-use of their own sold products or the raw materials used to create these products.
Karel Lammers, Greenpay’s PO: “We can’t wait to start our first pilot on the Greenpay platform we’re building at the moment. By March we aim to have gathered a thorough insight, based on two pilots in separate product groups, in the ecosystem that companies need to truly create a circular economy. With these insights, we can adjust our proposition accordingly.”
Hackathon to improve the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases
During the 2017 and 2018 Beyond Banking Days, several predictive algorithms were created to help gain insights in the treatment of cancer. In January, medical specialists and researchers from the UMC Utrecht and data-analysts of ABN AMRO joined forces to find algorithms to predict the chance of heart problems. The ultimate goal: After validation, the algorithms should be able to confirm or exclude cardiovascular disorders.
LocalMotion ready for Alpha Tests
In our last update, we wrote about the small group of ABN AMRO colleagues that wanted to create a platform to help turn all areas where children reside, into smoke-free areas as part of the movement ‘towards to a Smoke-free Generation’ (‘op weg naar een Rookvrije Generatie’). The Dutch alliance for a smoke-free society founded by the Heart Foundation, the Dutch Cancer Society and the Lung Foundation Netherlands, will soon be able to put the platform to good use: In January Dimitri Dekker from the LocalMotion team proudly announced that they have successfully deployed the LocalMotion application to production!
They are now entering the pilot stage and will be starting the alpha tests soon. We congratulate the team on their hard work and huge result! It’s really cool to see that such results can be achieved with vision and perseverance.
Beyond Banking participants first users of the newly opened Dataistic Center
On the 31st of January Dell EMC and ABN AMRO opened the Dataistic Center. The Center in Amstelveen offers users access to modern hardware and support to conduct experiments. Users can also re-use other users’ data and benefit from networking with like-minded data professionals. The Dataistic Center also offers expertise in banking, doing business and technological developments.
The first experiments on the cluster have begun. A group of participants from the 2018 Beyond Banking Days is using it to perform advanced analyses for cancer research in collaboration with Erasmus University Medical Center and the University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG).
Would you like to use the Dataistic Center’s facilities for your experiment? Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to check the possibilities!
